This blog might (I do not have total control over the WordPress programme), so if you want to block any possible cookies from here that I haven’t spotted yet, feel free. I can’t see it spoiling your enjoyment (or otherwise) of this site.

Other sites vary

BT will shove a fleeting option choice under your nose for a few seconds, then it vanishes, assuming that you will say ‘YES’. It is very difficult to set up a NO. With their e-mail, you have to agree to YES before you can try to track down how to say NO. Their ‘explanation’ takes you to a bucket load of terms, conditions and policies which do not give any real guide as to what on earth is going on. As for their connection with Yahoo? Say NO to BT cookies, and you still have to swallow all the Yahoo cookies or you can’t open your email account. All the tracking cookies that flood in from adverts, well … that’s something else again. The Pontius Pilate Absolution Routine is working overtime.

Natwest. You can say NO if you follow the fine print, but they automatically set that to YES every time you sign in. Then you have to say NO again. I have complained, but I am taking odds on their reply being along the lines of “We are doing nothing wrong. So there is no need for us to take any action.” Yes there is Natwest. You are annoying the people who bailed you out when you went bust. Who provide you with the regular use of their money. And who get a poorer service now than they did a year ago. You don’t pay any interest either, but you sure as hell charge plenty.

The rule about cookies applies to EVERY website, but the government ones are way, way behind on compliance. One rule for all EXCEPT …

I scrub ALL cookies after every session. I block adverts wherever humanly possible. This site is free from any kind of sponsorship and costs the reader nothing. If that ain’t a bargain, then nothing is!

And I block spam and other crap from ever becoming part of tachras.

That only leaves the stories, poems and posts. If I don’t, then I won’t.

Their is a 3rd possibility. Send me a very large cash donation (no Nigerian banks, please!). I will then see if a sufficiently large sum of money will bribe or persuade me to do something.
