All good things come to an end, and our week in Maggie Valley is over. The accommodation was fine, and we did enjoy our week.<\/p>\n

High point of the week (in addition to the Cherokee)?
\nFat Buddies Barbecue in Waynesville. Fantastic ribs and chicken.<\/p>\n

We took a trip up to Gatlinburg in Tennessee. Like Blackpool in the mountains. But tackier!
\nIts where she lives, from 9 to 5.<\/p>\n

We took the same road again, on our way to Nashville, and an overnight stay in a dull and dreary motel. Motel 6s are usually better than this – and not so pricey!<\/p>\n

I didn’t measure it precisely, but we passed within 16 miles of this place, following the son of a dustman.<\/p>\n

On the way to Nashville, L and I stopped off in Crossville, Tennessee’s self-styled ‘largest flea-market’. Much more interesting than Asheville.<\/p>\n

We could have made a detour down towards the Georgia\/Alabama border, and one of music’s wonderful song names. We managed two songs out of the same place.
\nLaverne, Maxene and Patty would catch a train, there.
\nAnd you can polish my boots, you son of a gun!<\/p>\n

That leaves just one song to go in this round, and as we sit in our motel room, listening to all the other residents doing their thing as noisily as possible, we can only offer you this …
\nMusical felines in friendly measure.<\/p>\n

Does Nashville have any joys apart from the Grand Ole Opry?
\nTomorrow, we go to see the Parthenon. A full size copy of the original Greek version.
\nAs featured in the ‘Percy Jackson’ film.<\/p>\n

Then on to Little Rock, Arkansas. Driven past it, a few years ago, on the way to Hot Springs. Home of America’s finest Key Lime Pie. This time, we have a whole day to wander around the place.<\/p>\n

who knows what we will find …<\/p>\n

Here are the 2 villes – Linville and Asheville, North Carolina. Grandfather Mountain in Linville, with the Mile High Bridge. And Asheville, with a branch of Woolies!<\/p>\n
