Nice day, Saturday. Sun shining. Good time to have a day out. So we decided to visit Doncaster. One of our personal favourites. So off we went. Top down. Fresh air motoring. Nothing like it.
By the time we were heading west along the A14, the traffic was getting busy. By Cambridge, with the roadworks and all, it was getting a bit clogged up. So, as you might imagine, tackling the junction between A14 west and A14 north required my full concentration. A 270 degree turn, traffic merging from the right, then immediately moving off to the left, then another merge from the right, before you can even attempt the joining of the A14 north past Bar Hill. Tricky at the best of times.
Making it vastly more difficult was a moron on a motorbike. Right behind me through the junction. Weaving left then right, closing up to my rear bumper, then moving as if to overtake, before going back to random weaving. It was impossible to predict which mirror he would appear in next. He couldn’t overtake – not on that junction. I think he was trying to intimidate me, make me somehow disappear. Not possible. But then, we are dealing with an idiot here, so all bets are off.
When we got on to the A14 north, he was able to overtake (I was happy enough to let him!), and he gave me some strange head tapping wave or salute (no doubt showing that he had won). The thing is, I have a dashboard camera. I filmed him as he tried the same nonsense on the next car. All this on the busiest stretch of a very busy road.
Don’t take my word for it. Judge for yourself.
I give you … The Idiot Biker.
(the sound has been removed, as the language on it got somewhat heated!)
