Despite the fact that this is the Jubilee week for Queen Elizabeth the 1st of Scotland and 2nd of England (get the facts right!), the title of this post is actually from the novel ‘Bring the Jubilee’ by Ward Moore – a story of an alternative world where the South won the American Civil war, and things turned out somewhat different.
There are so many places in history where a small change could have caused a massive shift in history. Fortunately, it seems that time travel is impossible (if it isn’t, could someone please edit this statement!), or we would be inundated with meddlers, all trying to shape history! Sorry guys, but it is the other way round. History shapes you. The film ‘Sliding Doors’, is merely a film. In reality, the train service would be cancelled due to industrial action, and Gwyneth Paltrow would be stuck with her fate on the replacement bus service. Ah well, it’s Fate. Innit?
I must confess that I am not a Royalist. Don’t mind the Queen, but believe that the rest of here family should go out and get a job, just like the rest of us. Or get their dole money stopped. Mind you, when you look at what the Great American Democracies vote in as President, you gotta wonder if democracy is over-rated.
A quick hello to one of my readers. Hello Paul!
A bit of a wander, this posting. No main theme, just random thoughts. No predictions – if I was any good at that, I would be exploiting the currency markets and becoming rich. Ditto, the Euro Lottery. £120 million! Buy your own country with that, you could. There are a few going cheap at the moment …
Anyway, back to the grindstone …
